For Matisse, the most exciting part of being a designer is the twists and turns you navigate from working on a concept to creating a final product – and then finding ways for ongoing improvements. She is driven with a strong creative edge believing that travel and being immersed within different cultures acts as a stimulus for creativity.
Matisse graduated with Honours in design and also won the New Zealand Prime Minister’s Scholarship (2017) to study sustainable fashion in China and went on to work as a design lecturer/tutor at a university in Huangshi, China.
Joanna Nolan
Customer Service Lead
Joanna thrives on the fact that what happens to ModalConnect’s reputation is largely based on the excellence in customer service. Her focus is on taking responsibility for resolving customer queries, recommending solutions and guiding ModalConnect users through the use of features and functionalities.
As the Customer Service Lead she supports ModalConnect’s customers by directing and overseeing team members, resolving customer questions, and developing programs and procedures to enhance productivity and performance.
Richard Blair
Customer Experience
Richard is responsible for improvement and customer experience. He has an extensive background in software products and system improvement including the founding and commercialization of technology companies. He is passionate about what makes a difference to customer outcomes and advocates strongly on customer behalf using a series of proven methods and techniques.
Richard creates a persistent focus on the customer in the actions the company takes driving the organisation to work together for optimum customer experience delivery of ModalConnect.
Ted Thomas
Director
Ted is an experienced leader with a proven track record of working in the development and commercialization of software products for global markets. Skilled in the development of strategy, organizational structure, safety and risk management, intelligence and investigation, IT and finance.
Ted has a passion for innovation and it being a catalyst to deliver efficiencies in business through the use of technologies to help organizations and their people achieve better governance and management oversight and outcomes.
Tony Russell
Product Manager
As General Manager and Product Owner, Tony is responsible for setting product direction and design in conjunction with customer need. He has a background in Criminal Intelligence and Investigation and has been involved with the ModalConnect product suite for 15 years.
Over the last ten years, Tony has held roles including: Professional Services Consultant and Support Manager. He has had significant client-side experience which provides a deep understanding intelligence and investigation operations.
Jibran Javed
Software Team Lead
Jibran leads ModalConnect’s SaaS software engineering and sets technical direction. A Certified Programming Specialist and Certified MCTS (Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist) with in-depth knowledge of complete SDLC methodologies and process. Working closely with Tony, Jibran translates customer needs into ModalConnect features.
Jibran provides leadership on all things technical including product functional solution architecture, design and product framework development. He provides leadership and supports engineers in performing hands-on solution design, prototyping, proof-of-concepts, process design and development tasks as required in support of current and new feature requests.

Ross Hughson
Director
Ross brings 40 years’ experience and a successful career in the corporate IT world, having lead IT across New Zealand organisations that both contained some of the most challenging IT leadership roles in New Zealand including banking and the core Government revenue service. He considers that he has learnt much about the value of information – but there is always more to do.
In this age of information, Ross understands the necessity for technology solutions that support core operations and allow the line of business to manage, organise and protect the avalanche of information we all have to deal with. Ross is also Managing Director of Personal Information Management Limited (PIM) the provider of myTrove.
Shane Wood
Director
Shane is an experienced information technology business founder and believes that the right result will be gained from spending time with clients and understanding their business and the problems that impede effective performance in detail.
He brings a strong ethic of working in partnership. Shane has created a SaaS product – Vinea (vineyard and labour management operations software). The purpose of Vinea is to cut paperwork, reduce errors, eliminate duplication, streamline business processes, improve and support sustainability.

Tony Salter is a Director of Modal Ltd and is also founder of Salamander Enterprises.
Through Tony's career, he has worked in various marketing and management roles including holding Directorships in several companies. Tony brings 40 years’ experience in wide range of international business activities ranging from accounting, costing, negotiating and distribution to Human Resources, Sales and Marketing.
